Hot rolled sheet non-pickled temper rolled is U. S.
Steel's basic hot rolled product. Product is supplied as a mill
edge coil that is temper rolled, dry and cropped back to
gauge. Options are available to specify product as oiled or
with side trimmed edges. This product is intended for applications
where improved flatness is required.
U. S. Steel's basic hot rolled non-pickled temper-rolled sheet
steel is a temper rolled, mill edge, coiled product. This
base product does not include pickling, oiling or side trimming but
does have the coil head and tail ends cropped back to the ordered
thickness. While this product is typically manufactured to a
nominal thickness, it may also be ordered to a minimum
thickness. In either case, this sheet product is sold on an
actual weight basis. Subjecting hot rolled product to a
temper rolling process (see schematic of temper mill) will
improve the sheet flatness, remove yield point elongation and
impart a uniform surface and/or texture on the sheet. surface. It
is the removal of yield point elongation in a sheet steel that
enables it to be formed without discontinuous yielding or the formation of
Lüders lines. While this product is typically
manufactured to a specific nominal thickness, it may also be
ordered to a minimum thickness. In either case, this sheet
product is sold on an actual weight basis. This product is intended
for applications that require improved flatness and surface
compared to unprocessed sheet steels.
