U. S. Steel Mon Valley Works is an integrated steel manufacturing facility that is comprised of three manufacturing plants: the Edgar Thomson Plant, the Irvin Plant and the Fairless Plant.  At Edgar Thomson, raw materials are converted into high quality steel slabs.  These slabs are subsequently converted into high quality steel sheet at the Irvin Plant.  At the Fairless Plant, a portion of the steel sheet from Irvin is galvanized.  The Mon Valley Works produces world-class steel sheet that is used in demanding manufacturing applications such as the automotive industry, appliance industry and metal building industry.
