Michael J. Hatcher

Michael J. Hatcher, a native of Richmond, Ind., earned
his bachelor's and master's degrees in finance from Indiana
University in Bloomington, Ind., in 1979 and 1980, respectively.
Mr. Hatcher joined Marathon Oil Company in Findlay, Ohio,
in 1980 as a financial analyst. He became an auditor in
1982, the year that U. S. Steel acquired Marathon Oil
Company.
In 1985, Mr. Hatcher was promoted to senior financial
representative at U. S. Steel's headquarters in Pittsburgh.
He was named manager of treasury operations in 1989, treasurer
of USX Realty Development group in 1990, and director
of corporate financial analysis in 1994. He returned to
the Findlay office in 1996 when he was elected treasurer
of Marathon Oil Company. |
In 1998, Mr. Hatcher returned
to Pittsburgh headquarters when he assumed the position
of assistant treasurer-corporate finance. In January 2002,
he was named assistant controller-corporate accounting,
and in June 2002, was named general manager-business development.
Mr. Hatcher was appointed to his current post in April
2009 and oversees procurement, raw materials purchasing
and real estate activities.
Mr. Hatcher served as a director of the United States
Steel and Carnegie Pension Fund and was a member of its
Investment Committee. He was also a member of the USS-POSCO
Industries Management Committee and the United Spiral
Pipe LLC Owners' Committee. Mr. Hatcher is a current member
of the North Allegheny (Pa.) School District Financial
and Support Services Advisory Committee. He previously
served as a member of the board of directors for the Girl
Scouts' Trillium Council for six years and served a term
as the organization's treasurer.
